ENCORE SOCIETY – Planned Giving and Syracuse Opera
"We all know about the legacy that they left to Opera". What about your operatic legacy?
Your love of opera can endure, thanks to your generousity.
Syracuse Opera will be honored to be included in your estate plans. Estate gifts of all sizes and
varieties help to secure the future of opera in Central New York.
There are two basic types of estate planning; Life Income Gifts, which allow you to make a gift immediately, and receive income from that gift during your lifetime, and testamentary gifts, or Gifts by Bequest, which allow you to transfer assets to the Syracuse Opera when you are no longer in our audience. Each option has distinct advantages.
Life Income Gifts, such as a Charitable Remainder trust, will allow you a charitable donation at the time your gift is made, as well as to provide a loved one with income until the trust assets are distributed to Syracuse Opera. Trusts are individually managed portfolios that can be created to meet your financial goals.
Bequests are the most popular form of estate planning gift, allowing you to include Syracuse Opera as a
charitable beneficiary in your will or living trust. You can give a percentage of your estate, or a specific
sum of money, or even name Syracuse Opera as a contingent beneficiary. You estate will gain financial
benefits by claiming a charitable deduction for your generous bequest.
